TireGet sponsors Autism Speaks Walk at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, CA
ANAHEIM, CA, December 9, 2018 - Autism Speaks, a national organization dedicated to autism awareness and research, hosted a walk to raise money for their efforts. The walk was held at the Angel Stadium on 2000 E Gene Autry Way. Registration started at 9 a.m., opening ceremonies were at 10 a.m. and the walk officially started at 10:30 a.m. A community resource fair and entertainment made the day-long event family friendly. Making a one-time donation can still be done through their secure website for those that were unable to join the walk.
Autism Speaks raised $229,692 and had over 50,000 people walking. These fundraisers help the organization meet both short-term and long-term goals, enabling them to help those diagnosed with autism to have the treatment and support necessary to lead a fulfilling life.
Autism Speaks hopes to fund research that will find causes for the disorder, better understand it's typology, and discover better treatments. They advocate for early diagnosis in children and help families transition after a diagnosis is made. Ongoing treatment is necessary, but an early diagnosis can reduce symptoms and support brain development.
The National Institute for Mental Health defines autism spectrum disorder, or ASD, as a "developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior." According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 59 children in the United States is autistic, with boys being four times more likely than girls to be diagnosed. Providing support and education is a lifelong effort. It is through the help of communities, organizations, and businesses that these goals are achieved.
TireGet, an online specialty tire store, partnered with DoTerra Healing Hands Foundation, Whole Living Oils and Imago Dei Schools to sponsor the 2018 Autism Speaks Orange County Walk. Parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers, relatives, and friends gathered together in support of those with autism, earning money with each step.
