The Dunlop Grandtrek Touring A/S DSST is a touring all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs.
The tire was designed as a run flat model, made with Dunlop’s Self Supporting Technology (DSST). The tire’s reinforced internal structure improves the tire’s durability, which enables it to withstand the weight of the vehicle and its passengers in an aired down state for a limited temporary performance. After the loss of air pressure, the tire can be driven on for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph. In this manner, the driver is not stuck on the side of the road after air pressure leaves the tires due to a puncture or other damage. Instead, they can safely navigate to a nearby location to change or fix the damaged tire. These tires are manufactured for vehicles without space for a spare tire and they cannot be mixed with regular tires, due to their heavier construction.
The tire offers great all weather traction. The asymmetric tread pattern and the all season silica tire compound improve the dry, wet and winter weather road gripping ability. The compound upgrades year round grip and flexibility, including in winter weather. The tread’s siping detail ensures a consistent traction and grip to boost the all weather performance. The circumferential grooves prevent hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from below the tire’s footprint. The better controllability and hydroplaning resistance improve the driving safety.
The silica-based tire compound manages to ensure a fuel efficient performance. The compound increases the traction and eases the driving pressure off the tire. This manages to lower the tire’s rolling resistance, which is the pressure affecting the tire that determines the amount of energy the vehicle consumes to keep the tires in motion. The reduced rolling resistance in turn decreases the vehicle’s fuel usage and CO2 emissions. This guarantees a fuel efficient and environmentally friendly driving experience.
The maintained road contact of the three center ribs improves the tire’s controllability. The tread design improves the steering responsiveness and the driving stability by closely following the road surface at all times. The better road contact enhances the steering response time and accuracy to the driver’s commands, while the structure is stabilized against the driving pressure affecting the tire. The Jointless Band Technology also upgrades the driving stability by preventing the optimal shape’s deformation during the drive. The boosted control over the tire enables the driver to confidently maneuver the vehicle.
The Grandtrek Touring A/S DSST ensures a comfortable and quiet drive. The tread’s multi-pitch sequence lowers the road noise levels heard while the tires are in motion. The variable pitch sequence creates a sound frequency that manages to negate the road and tread pattern generated during the drive. The Jointless Band’s maintained optimal shape enables the tire to closely follow the road surface and lower the road vibrations felt in the vehicle’s cabin, by absorbing the shock of driving. This boosts the driving comfort significantly.
